A new butterfly park has opened in Jharsuguda, India, on the premises of Vedanta Aluminium. The park, home to over 30 rare and exquisite butterfly species, is part of Vedanta's GreenHearts campaign, which aims to create a more sustainable future for the company and the communities it serves. The park harbours over 100 meticulously curated selections of plant species that will attract and nurture more than 30 rare and exquisite butterfly species such as the Common Mormon, Zebra Blue and Danaid Eggfly providing them with a nurturing habitat. The Butterfly Park will further play a pivotal role in providing a thriving ecosystem to local flora and fauna such as rare flowering plant species, birds, bees, etc. The park was designed by butterfly expert Dr Suresh Babu, who has over 20 years of experience in butterfly conservation.
