Rabindra Pal aka Dara Singh convicted of killing Graham Staines and his minor sons

Rabindra Kumar Pal aka Dara Singh is a Bajrang Dal member and was also a Bhartiya Janta Party member. He is currently serving life imprisonment for torching an Australian missionary Graham Staines and his two minor sons (Timothy & Philip) 7 and 9 years of age on the night of January 22, 1999, when they were sleeping in a station wagon. Rabindra Kumar Pal is convicted of multiple horrendous crimes, he is also convicted of killing a Muslim trader Sheikh Rehman of Padiabeda village in the Thakurmunda block of the district. The same year, he and three others were sentenced to life for murdering 35-year-old Catholic priest Father Arul Doss in September 1999, at Jamubani village of Mayurbhanj district.

In 2003, a trial court in Khurda district awarded Singh the death sentence and life to 12 others for burning alive Staines and his two sons in Manoharpur village of Keonjhar district.

Now some so-called hindutvavaadis including Sudarshan TV news anchor Suresh Chavhanke trending hashtags on Twitter in support of such a criminal who had dozens of criminal records and was convicted in all such cases. These people who support such criminals are not new, recently 11 convicts of Bilkis Bano gang-rape cases were given remission by the Gujarat Government and some people were seen garlanding those 11 convicts and sharing sweets on their release on 15th August 2022.
