Know all about Dhanushkodi, India

Dhanushkodi is an abandoned town at the south-eastern tip of Pamban Island and is about 24 kilometres west of Talaimannar in Sri Lanka. The town was destroyed during the 1964 Rameswaram cyclone and remains uninhabited in the aftermath. It is also called the southernmost end of India.

Sri Lanka is visible from this southernmost tip or the last land of India. Dhanushkodi is situated between India and Sri Lanka, Which is the only terrestrial border between the two countries that exists on the sand dune in the Palk Strait, which is only 50 yards in length. For this reason, this place is considered as one of the shortest town in the world and popularly known as the ghost town of India.
