- 2020 - In a historic first, Puri's Rath Yatra is celebrated but with almost no devotees. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, restrictions were imposed and only 500 devotees were allowed to pull the Iconic Jagannath's Rath Yatra.
- 1985 – A terrorist bomb explodes at Narita International Airport near Tokyo. An hour later, the same group detonates a second bomb aboard Air India Flight 182, bringing the Boeing 747 down off the coast of Ireland killing all 329 aboard.
- 1757 – Battle of Plassey: Three thousand British troops under Robert Clive defeat a 50,000-strong Indian army under Siraj ud-Daulah at Plassey.
- 1310 - Mallik Kafur presented the (largest diamond of that time)Kohinoor to his Sultanate Allauddin Khilji which he had looted from Bhadrakali temple, Kakatiya dynasty.

The longest-serving and 4th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, he served as the Chief Minister from 2012 to 2017 before being replaced by BJP's Jai Ram Thakur in December 2017. He previously served as Chief Minister from 1983 to 1990, from 1993 to 1998 and from 2003 to 2007.
