- 1942 - Congress working committee passed a resolution demanding the British to "Quit India". The Quit India Resolution was passed in Wardha, demanding complete independence from the British Govt and proposed massive civil disobedience if the British did not accede to the demands.

- 1920 – Shankarrao Chavan, Indian lawyer and politician, Indian Minister of Finance. Shankarrao Bhavrao Chavan served twice as Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1975 until 1977 and from 13 March 1986 until 24 June 1988. He was the Finance Minister of India from 1987 to 1990 and served as Home Minister of India in the P. V. Narsimha Rao cabinet From 21 June 1991 to 16 May 1996.
