- 2022 - BJP creates history by winning Gujarat Assembly Election 2022 by a thumping majority of 156 seats out of 182 seats, Indian National Congress remained distant 2nd with mere 17 seats and Aam Admi Party with 5 seats.
- 2022 - Indian National Congress won Himachal Pradesh Assembly Election 2022 with 40/68 seats, BJP was able to manage 25 seats while Aam Aadmi Party couldn't able to win a single seat.
- 2021 - An IAF Mi-17 V5 helicopter, with CDS Gen Bipin Rawat and 13 others on board, met with an accident today near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu.

- 1944 - Sharmila Tagore (also known as Begum Ayesha Sultana Khan following conversion to Islam and marriage) is a former Indian film actress known for her works in Hindi cinema as well as Bengali cinema. She has received two National Film Awards and two Filmfare Awards for her performances. She was one of the highest-paid actresses in the 70s and also one of the iconic veteran actresses of Indian Cinema. She led the Indian Film Censor Board from October 2004 till March 2011. In December 2005 she was chosen as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. She was one of the International Competition's Jury Members at the 2009 Cannes Film Festival. In 2013, she was awarded Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
- 1935 – Dharmendra, is an Indian film actor, producer, and politician. In 1997, he received the Filmfare Lifetime Achievement Award for his contribution to Hindi cinema. He is one of the most successful actors in the history of Indian cinema. One of his most notable roles was in the 1975 film Sholay. He was a member of the 14th Lok Sabha of India, representing the Bikaner constituency in Rajasthan from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). In 2012, he was awarded India's third-highest civilian honour Padma Bhushan by the Government of India.
- 1927 - Parkash Singh Badal is an Indian politician who was Chief Minister of Punjab state from 1970 to 1971, from 1977 to 1980, from 1997 to 2002, and from 2007 to 2017. He is also the patron of Shiromani Akali Dal. The Government of India awarded him the second-highest civilian award, Padma Vibhushan, in 2015.
- 1900 - Uday Shankar was an Indian dancer and choreographer, best known for creating a fusion style of dance, adapting European theatrical techniques to Indian classical dance, imbued with elements of Indian classical, folk, and tribal dance, which he later popularised in India, Europe, and the United States in the 1920s and 1930s. He was a pioneer of modern dance in India.
- 1892 - Kazi Mohammed Zainul Abedin was an Urdu poet and an officer in the Government of the Nizam of Hyderabad. He was also the last Kazi of Udgir under the Hyderabad State.
- 1880 - Sukhlal Sanghvi also known as Pandit Sukhlalji, was a Jain scholar and philosopher. He belonged to the Sthanakvasi sect of Jainism.
- 1720 - Balaji Bajirao Peshwa also known as Nana Saheb, was a Peshwa of the Maratha Empire in India. He was appointed as Peshwa in 1740 upon the death of his illustrious father, the Peshwa Bajirao I. During Balaji Rao's tenure, the Maratha territory reached its zenith.

- 2021 - General Bipin Laxman Singh Rawat PVSM UYSM AVSM YSM SM VSM ADC was an Indian military officer who was a four-star general of the Indian Army. He served as the first Chief of Defence Staff of the Indian Armed Forces from January 2020 until his death in a helicopter crash in December 2021.
