Today on 7th December every year India celebrates "The Armed Forces Flag Day" or "The Flag Day of India". This day is dedicated to India towards the collection of funds from the people of India for the welfare of the Indian Armed Forces personnel. It has been observed annually in India on December 7 since 1949.

Today that is 7th of December is also observed as International Civil Aviation Day.
In 1996 the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed that 7 December was to be International Civil Aviation Day. The day has been celebrated by the International Civil Aviation Organization since 7 December 1994, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Flag day is mainly observed to serve three basic purposes

Rehabilitation of battle casualties
The welfare of serving personnel and their families
Resettlement and welfare of ex-servicemen and their families.
