2019 - With All Nippon Airways (ANA) launch of a direct flight between Tokyo to Chennai, Chennai became the first South Indian city to get direct connectivity to Japan. Overall Chennai became the 3rd city in India to have direct flight connectivity between India and Japan after Delhi and Mumbai.
