- 1965 – Zakir Naik, an Indian Islamic preacher; founder and president of the Islamic Research Foundation (IRF)
- 1950 – Om Puri, Om Prakash Puri, was an Indian actor who appeared in mainstream commercial Hindi films and independent and art films and starred in several international cinemas. He is widely regarded as one of the finest actors in Indian cinema. Some of his famous films are Aakrosh(1980), Tamas, Droh Kaal, City of Joy(1992), Actor in Law and Ardh Satya(1983).
- 1925 – N. D. Tiwari, Narayan Datt Tiwari was an Indian politician. He was formerly in the Praja Socialist Party and later joined the Indian National Congress. He was a three-time Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh and remains the last Congress CM of Uttar Pradesh. He also served once as Chief Minister of Uttarakhand. He died at the age of 93 on 18th October 2018.
