Update: Shafali Verma has broken the world record for being the fastest batter to reach 1,000 runs in T20I cricket. She achieved the feat during India's women's Asia Cup 2022 match on 8th October 2022. Shafali got 1,000 runs aged 18 years and 253 days, This record was earlier held by Jemimah Rodrigues aged 21 years and 32 days.
Shafali Verma became India’s youngest T20I debutant after receiving the India cap before the start of play between India Women vs South Africa Women at the Lalabhai Contractor Stadium in Surat. She is now the second youngest Indian (15y 239d ) to play international cricket after Gargi Banerji (14y 165d, Ind v Eng, 1978)
Shafali Verma (born: 28th January 2004) in Rohtak, Haryana is a right-hand batter in Team India women's team.
Shafali Verma earned the India call-up after a phenomenal domestic season where she accumulated 1923 runs, including six tons and three half-centuries. In February this year (2019), the youngster scored 128 off 56 balls—the third-highest score in women's T20—for Haryana against Nagaland in the Indian Senior T20 league.
Verma’s international debut was shortlived as she was dismissed for a duck by pacer Shabnim Ismail. The diminutive Haryana girl played under veteran Mithali Raj for Team Velocity in the women's T20 challenge which was held during the IPL earlier this year.
A self-confessed fan of Sachin Tendulkar, Shafali took to cricket at eight. In fact, it was Tendulkar's last Ranji Trophy match in Rohtak, which she went to watch, that inspired her to take up cricket seriously. Shefali would train with her father and brother and other boys. Her big-hitting skills got her selected for Haryana’s U-19 team in 2016 when she was just 13. Shafali has a strike rate of 150-plus in the U-19 and U-23 category domestic events.
