- 2019 - India’s first indigenous beyond visual range air-to-air missile (BVRAAM) fighter, 'Astra', is now finally ready for induction into the Indian Air Force, with the DRDO expecting the IAF to initially order at least 200 missiles for its Sukhoi-30MKI jets.
- 2019 - On this day (29 September 2016), the Indian Army & Indian Air Force (IAF) conducted their "first" Surgical Strikes against militant launch pads across the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
- 2019 - INS Khandiri was added to the arsenal of the Indian Navy. Stealth frigate INS Nilgiri, the first ship of the P-17A frigates, was launched at the dockyard of the Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai on the 29th of September 2019.
- 2019 - At least 80 people have died in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh after the states were hit by heavy rainfall. In the capital of Bihar, the floods have claimed the lives of at least 17 people.
- 2016 – Eleven days after the Uri attack, the Indian Army conducted "surgical strikes" against suspected militants in Pakistani-administered Kashmir.
- 2011 – The special court in India convicted all 269 accused officials for the atrocity on Dalits and 17 for rape in the Vachathi case.

- 1979 - Dr Kafeel Khan, is a Suspended Lecturer, Dept of paediatric, at B.R.D. Medical College, Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. Dr Kafeel Khan had to serve 9 months in Jail due to false accusations & charges implied on him by the Uttar Pradesh Govt for negligence in duty, due to which 63 infants died (in the year 2016) due to encephalitis and lack of Oxygen cylinder in the BRD Hospital, Gorakhpur. All the charges implied on him were found baseless and false by Allahabad Court and absolved him on any Charges after 2 Years, Court instead hails him for the proactive actions he took to save the lives of children.

- 1942 - Maa Matangini Hazra, was a freedom fighter and a martyr, she was shot dead by the British Indian police in front of the Tamluk Police Station, on 29 September 1942. She was affectionately known as गाँधी बूढ़ी or "old lady Gandhi" (born - on 19th October 1870)
