- 2022 - On 6th August 2022, Jagdeep Dhankhar the former West Bengal governor and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate won the election with 528 votes against Opposition candidate Margaret Alva's 182 to become the 14th Vice President of India. Dhankhar was born in 1951 into a Jat farmer's family in Kithana, a small village in Rajasthan. Mr Dhankhar started as a lawyer and has practised in the Supreme Court and the Rajasthan High Court. He was designated a senior advocate in 1990. He was with Indian National Congress when PV Narasimha Rao was the prime minister. But with the rise of Ashok Gehlot in Rajasthan, he defected from the Indian National Congress to join BJP. Mr Dhankhar was appointed as the Governor of West Bengal in July 2019.

- 2020 - Shyamal Chakraborty was a politician and CPI(M) leader. He was the three-time transport minister of West Bengal from 1982 to 1996. He died of Covid19.
- 2020 - Sameer Sharma, Television Actor popularly known for his roles in Kahani Ghar Ghar ki.
- 2019 - Sushma Swaraj, was an Indian politician and a Supreme Court lawyer. A senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Swaraj served as the Minister of External Affairs of India in the first Narendra Modi government. She was the second woman to hold the office, after Indira Gandhi.
