What is Surrogacy?

Surrogacy, what clicked first thing in your mind? Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan or Robert Edward? How many of us remembered Robert Edward, the Creator of infertility treatment, who got awarded the 2010 Nobel Prize in medicine on Oct.4^th, for the invention of IVF Technique.

What this process Surrogacy is?

Actually Surrogacy is a technique, which helps childless couples to have a child of their own. In this process another woman bears the child for the couple with the help of IVF process.

The 28 years of struggle took the shape of flower and bloomed on 25^th of July 1978. Yes you are right Louise Brown came into the world (the world’s first test-tube baby) with the help of IVF.

What is IVF (in vitro fertilization), the new way to fertilize the egg by sperm outside the body. Interestingly approximately in 2010, around 4 million children have been born by IVF technique.

In IVF process, the woman’s ovulatory process is monitored and the egg is removed from the woman’s ovaries. Then in laboratory the egg get’s fertilized by the sperm in a fluid medium. Woman’s natural cycle is monitored and when it is ready for the fertilization, the fertilized egg is then transferred to the patient’s uterus to establish pregnancy. The woman bears the child and delivers the child normally for the couples who had asked for this. The details of surrogate mother is never disclosed to anyone.
This IVF Technique is now very much popular in India and many child wishing parents are going for this IVF technique to have a child.
