Manik Sarkar the Chief Minister of Tripura.

Manik Sarkar had assumed the post of Chief Minister of Tripura in the year 1998 on 11th March. From then onward his being the CM of Tripura has never been challenged, until recently when his party lost majority in the 2018 elections and he had to step down as a result.

According to the affidavit filed by him for the Tripura Assembly election 2013, he was found to possess the least assets among any other counterparts.

Manik Sarkar has been donating all his salary and allowances to his party CPI(M) and in return, the party refund him Rs.10000/- per month.

He does not own home also.
Manik Sarkar was born 22nd January 1949, is believed to be the most honest CM of all, he still live in the same house his grandparents used to stay.

It is said that his wife also follows his footsteps and don't accept the govt provided car and walks her own by her own means generally by rickshaws.

He is one of the very few chief Ministers in India who were in the office for so long.
