one of the most famous parts of Mumbai is its Bollywood(the Hindi cinema). It is one of the few cities in the world which accommodate a national park within the city, named Sanjay Gandhi national park.
Mumbai which was formerly till December 1995, known as Bombay was given by the Britishers and they had anglicized this name from Portuguese name Bombaim meaning "good bay". but the name Mumbai is said to be derived from the Koli goddess Mumba. this Mumba Devi was the mother of Aarish and Aarish was the maternal uncle of Ravana. it is believed that after the set up of Maha Amba or Mumba Devi idol in this region, the region flourished financially.
People of that region have full faith in her and they often visit Mumba Devi temple before going to do any business activities.

Mumbai is built on what was once an archipelago of seven islands: Bombay Island, Parel, Mazagaon, Mahim, Colaba, Worli, and Old Woman's Island (also known as Little Colaba).
Mumbai is also famous for it's widespread and world-famous Ganesh Chaturthi festival. This city is well connected with almost every major cities of india majorly through rail networks and air traffic.
Mumbai is soon going to launch its most awaited project of monorail which is in the construction stage in Mumbai.
